Permanent housing for homeless is group’s goal
YOUNGSTOWN — The majority of the $3.5 million in federal money received this year by the Mahoning County Homeless Continuum of Care will be spent on providing permanent housing for homeless residents.
The Continuum of Care is funded for with $1.6 million in stimulus money received by Youngstown and $1.9 million from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, said Erin Bishop, Continuum coordinator.
The organization met today to update member agencies and to wrap up this year’s Cold Weather Emergency Shelter Program.
