Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper hurt in Warren Township accident
SOUTHINGTON — The Ohio State Highway Patrol continues to investigate a one-vehicle accident that occurred today in Warren Township in which a state trooper was injured.
At about 6:50 a.m., Trooper Ron Craft, 51, of the patrol’s Warren Post, was investigating a one-vehicle crash involving a Ford Ranger on state Route 5 westbound in Warren Township near U.S. Route 422.
Craft had parked his marked cruiser on the right berm with his overhead lights activated behind the other vehicle. During his investigation, a westbound Honda Civic driven by Shawn Hunt, 31, of Cortland, lost control and went off the right side of the road striking the rear of the cruiser pushing it into the guardrail and the Ford Ranger.
The Honda then spun around and struck Craft as he was standing outside the patrol car completing the first crash investigation. As a result, Craft was pinned underneath the Honda.
