Man jailed in 2 assault cases
STAFF REPORT
SHARON, Pa. — A man wanted in two aggravated assault cases in the city is now in Mercer County Jail.
Christopher Simmons, 22, of McKeesport, Pa., was picked up by McKeesport police, said Sharon Police Chief Michael Menster.
Sharon police went to the Allegheny County Jail on Friday to bring him here for arraignment, Menster said.
Simmons is wanted in an aggravated assault Sept. 1 on Mesabi Street.
Police say he passed a gun to his friend Isaac Anderson of Detroit, who fired six shots at a city man after a confrontation.
The victim was not hurt. Anderson is awaiting trial on an aggravated-assault charge, police said.
Simmons also is implicated in an assault Sept. 15 on Malleable Street, the chief said.
In that case, a Sharpsville man was hit in the head with a gun, knocked to the ground and kicked in the face.
The assailant stole $900 from him, he told police.
Simmons is set to appear for a preliminary hearing at 1 p.m. April 15 before Senior Magistrate Henry Russo in Sharon. He is in jail in lieu of $50,000 bond.
