AARP Chapter 4339 honored on anniversary

AUSTINTOWN — The National AARP recently honored Austintown Chapter 4339 for its 20 years of service to the community. A plaque commemorating the achievement was given to Sandra Crew, chapter president, who in turn presented it to Earl Ausnehmer and Harriett Jones, past presidents at the organization’s March 11 meeting at Grace Lutheran Church on Raccoon Road.

It was noted that Wilbur Jones, the first president, and his officers led the group to a membership of more than 300.

Among those who were instrumental in chartering the chapter were Elfriede Anton (now 93 years old), Ernest Copp, the Rev. and Mrs. Frederick Michelson, and Wilbur and Harriett Jones.
