Sex-crimes seminar set for April 21

YOUNGSTOWN — A workshop, “Working on Solutions to Sexual Assault Crimes,” is planned from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 21 in the Jones Room in Kilcawley Center at Youngstown State University.

Delphine Baldwin-Casey of Essence of Weaponry is coordinating the event. She is a detective sergeant with the Youngstown Police Department. The agenda is:

U8-8:45 a.m., registration and continental breakfast.

U8:45-9, welcome and opening remarks. “Prevention and Intervention” with Baldwin-Casey.

U10-11, “The Pastor’s Response to Sexual Abuse” with the Rev. Lewis Macklin, pastor of Holy Trinity Missionary Baptist Church.

U11-noon, response to sexual assaults in Mahoning County with Ellen Taylor, rape program director with Family Services Agency.

UNoon to 1 p.m., lunch.

U1-2, “What is Sexual Harassment” with Baldwin-Casey.

U2-3, “Prevention: Raising Children Not to Be Victims” with Martha Katz, licensed counselor in private practice.

U3-3:45, panel discussion on sharing ideas.

U3:45-4, evaluations, continuing education units and certificates.

The cost is $75. Six continuing education credits will be provided by Family Services Agency for social workers and counselors. Seating is limited.
