Top colors

The Wallcoverings Association has the answer to that question that’s been keeping you up all night: What are the top colors in wallpaper? Here’s what the association had to say:

Neutrals, especially serenity-inducing gray, surface as consumers play it safe in challenging times (pair charcoal or heather with green and purple to heighten the allure). Perennially chic black-and-white is a front-runner.

Eco-inspired greens and blues envelop a room in meditative calm, either through the intensity of olive and ocean blue or the exuberance of lime (which is great with purple).

Mustard yellow, so prevalent in fashion, asserts itself in wallpaper as a complement to all of the above, particularly gray.

Noting bronze’s uptick in appliances and hardware, wallpaper designers are elevating this earthy metal with dressy designs and clever textural effects.

Bright, cheery fuchsia, coral and cobalt stand as the proverbial “light at the end of the tunnel” — or as a feature wall at the end of a hallway.
