Historian to present program on Titanic
WARREN —Titanic historian Frank Rendes will bring his collection of memorabilia on the “unsinkable” ship to the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library, 444 Mahoning Ave. N.W. from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 18 in the Thomas Meeting Room on the library’s second floor.
At 2 p.m., Rendes will give a lecture and slide presentation focusing on some of the people who were aboard the Titanic.
On April 17 in 1912, the ocean liner should have been pulling into port in New York. Instead, she was lying at the bottom of the sea after striking an iceberg on April 14. Of the 2,200 passengers onboard, only 705 survived the disaster.
Rendes, of Girard, has been a collector of Titanic memorabilia for many years and is co-founder of Titanic International, a non profit organization that keeps alive the history of great ocean liners.
The event is free and open to the public. For information about more library programs and services, call (330) 399-8807, ext. 128, or go to www.wtcpl.org.
