“Community Connection” (6:30 a.m., WFMJ-TV 21): April is Minority Health Awareness month, and Dr. Kenneth G. Cowens will join host Madonna Chism Pinkard to discuss his services that provide medical house calls for individuals who cannot make it to a doctor’s office.

Next, Dr. Joan Boyd and Susan Moorer of Youngstown State University will discuss the local health fair “300 Sisters in Red,” geared toward black women, who, according to statistics, are at a disproportionate level for diabetes, heart attack and stroke.

Finally, the Rev. Alfred Coward and Ricky George of the Mahoning Valley Task Force on Crime and Violence Prevention will showcase Beacon Bulbs, a light bulb that flashes and can be placed in a front porch fixture for senior citizens to help alert neighbors or police in case of an emergency.
