BOARDMAN — Alex DiDomenico tossed a three-hit shutout and Shannon Morrow had two hits including a solo home run to drive in two runs to lead the Spartans (1-0). Casey Lower also pitched a three-hitter for the Irish, who had two hits from Kasey Foley including a double.
Cardinal Mooney 2, Stow 1
BOARDMAN — Junior Christina Hrehor’s two-run double scored Katie Krancevich and senior Katie Hughes in the bottom of the sixth to lift the Cards at Field of Dreams. Kelcie Herberger’s one-out bunt single was the impetus for Mooney in the sixth before the senior hurt her ankle, necessitating the pinch-runner. Hughes had doubled to get on base. Sophomore Jamie Clausen’s two-hitter included seven strikeouts, including one to end the game in the top of the seventh when Stow had runners on second and third with two outs. Clausen had a no-hitter entering the last inning.
Fitch 8, South Range 6
AUSTINTOWN — Fitch pounded out 11 hits including three by Megan Carney and a two-run home run by Stephanie Berdis to outlast South Range. Haley Martinelli added two singles and Carley Ortez had a double and single for the Falcons. Madison Yanek had a double and a home run for the Raiders.
Poland 2, Liberty 1
LIBERTY — Freshman Jenna Modic pitched a three-hitter, striking out seven and walking four, to get the mound win, while Erin Gabriel, also a freshman, tripled and drove in a run to lead Poland (2-0). Modic, Nicole White, Brittany Gamble and Jessica D’Apolito all singled for the Bulldogs. Alison House struck out four and walked one in a five-hitter for Liberty (1-1).
Canfield 3, Struthers 1
CANFIELD — Carlee Hart hit a solo home run in the second inning and Canfield scored twice more to pull out the win over Struthers. Rebecca Brown had an RBI single for the Cardinals (2-0), while Bianca Biondillo scored the final run off a Struthers error. Nikki Demyar had three hits and Ashley Baron drove in the Wildcats’ (0-2) only run.
Howland 6, Hubbard 3
HOWLAND — Melanie Cope had two doubles and drove in two runs, while Jena Debiec had a two-run home run to pace Howland. Gina Albani and Erika Nites also had two hits for the Tigers, while Cope also picked up the mound victory.
Lisbon 9, Girard 0
GIRARD — Kayla Hiscox pitched a one-hitter and also drove in a pair of runs with a double to lead Libson to a shutout over Girard. Katie Snoody added two hits including a triple while Lauren Evans drove in three runs with a triple. Hiscox struck out five and walked two. The only hit she allowed was a first inning bunt single by Chelsea Guerrieri.
Jackson-Milton 10, Mathews 0
NORTH JACKSON — Julie Franko singled, doubled and scored twice to lead the Bluejays (1-0), while Lyndsey Knipp pitched a one-hitter over five innings to get the win. Knipp also had two hits, as did Maddie Griffiths and Brittany McGee.
Lowellville 1, McDonald 0
LOWELLVILLE — Gina Stouffer led off the last of the seventh inning with a bunt single, stole second and third and came home on a passed ball to give Lowellville the win in an Inter Tri-County League Tier Two game. Both pitchers, Cori Pavlicko of Lowellville (1-0, 1-0 ITCL Tier Two) and Kaithlin Rutushin of McDonald (1-1, 1-1) pitched no-hitters. Pavlicko had nine strikeouts, Rutushin 12.
Western Reserve 8, Southern 1
SALINEVILLE — Heather Monosky belted a solo home run and double while Ashley Grim pitched a three-hitter with five strikeouts to spark Western Reserve (2-0, 2-0 ITCL Tier Two). Marla Pitts had two singles for Southern (0-2 0-2).
