Boardman 6, Harding 1

BOARDMAN — Kevin McCulloh pitched six strong innings and also added a double in Boardman’s big four-run third inning against the Raiders. Shane Parks picked up the save in the seventh inning, while Sam Porter also had two hits for the Spartans (2-0). Zach McGhee suffered the loss for the Raiders (0-1) and also had two of their five hits.

Niles 12, Lakeview 4

NILES — Mike Watson went 3-for-4 with two doubles and scored four runs to lead Niles, which rolled up a 7-4 advantage after three innings. Austin Lykins, Nick Charnas and Joe Livi each added two hits. For Lakeview, Tyler DeWeese had two hits, two runs, two walks and two RBIs.

Canfield 14, Struthers 4

CANFIELD — Nick Reinthaler had three hits and six RBIs to lead Canfield (2-0), while Justin Vrabel had two hits and an RBI. Ron Sullivan struck out five over 41‚Ñ3 innings to get the win. Tyler Serich and Jake Thomas doubled for Struthers.

Beaver Local 2, Salem 0

LISBON — Shawn Mercer had an RBI double and Dustin Sprouse also knocked in a run, while Andrew Kidd and Christian Francis had a hit apiece for the winners (2-0). For Salem (0-2), Dan Gagnon had two hits and Randy Wyand had one hit.

Howland 12, Hubbard 3

HUBBARD — Andy Zigmont slammed a solo homer and a single and drove in three runs to pace Howland. Matt Preston added a double, single and two RBIs and Jared Kirin two singles and one RBI to also pace the Tigers (2-0). Kirin and last-inning reliever Adam Shrodek combined to pitch a seven-hitter while Kirin had six strikeouts. Bo Slemons had a double and single for Hubbard.

Springfield 8, Mineral Ridge 1

MINERAL RIDGE — Senior Bryan Visingardi and junior Matt Semach had two hits apiece for Springfield (3-0), which out-hit the Rams, 11-4. Junior starter Jim Behnke allowed four hits before junior reliever Jake Whetzel pitched to four batters in the bottom of the seventh. Senior Joe Mulichak, sophomore Tom Robbins and juniors Anthony Pannunzio and Bobby Cameron had a single apiece for Ridge (1-2).

Mathews 6, Jackson-Milton 0

NORTH JACKSON — Colin Bowser had a two-hitter that included seven strikeouts for Mathews (2-0). Rick Sommers, who had a double and later scored, also had two singles and an RBI. Teammate Jared Smith had two doubles, two RBIs and scored a run. Jake Swank had two hits and scored a run and had a stolen base for the winners. Junior Jim Nagy and sophomore George Chepke had the only hits for J-M (0-3), whose 17-player squad consists of two seniors, three juniors and the rest sophomores and freshmen.

Columbiana 3, Crestview 1

COLUMBIANA — Jeff Davidson pitched a complete game, three-hitter and struck out eight batters for the Clippers (2-0), while Josh Saverko had a single and RBI to spark the win over Crestview. Logan Schaefer suffered the loss while allowing just two hits and striking out seven for the Rebels (0-2). Tom Marnejon singled in the lone run for the Rebels.

McDonald 12, Lowellville 7

STRUTHERS — Senior Mike Thomas and juniors Mike Gatta and Devin Bansberg had two hits apiece for McDonald (2-0, 2-0 ITCL Tier2). The Blue Devils got an early jump with a seven-run second inning. Lowellville had seven hits, but committed five errors.

Late Wednesday

Lowellville 10, Jackson-Milton 2

STRUTHERS — Brian Wellington and Tim Lisko combined to toss a three-hitter for the Rockets (2-0, 2-0 Inter Tri-County League Tier Two) at Cene Park. Wellington struck out five batters and walked four in his four innings. Dante Abbas and Drew Skelly led Lowellville’s offense with two hits driving in three runs. Ryan Whinnery’s two hits brought home two runs. Brian Rossadivita also had two hits.
