Food pantry challenge to help raise funds
NEWTON FALLS — The Newton Falls Community Food Pantry has a special request for donations as it has a chance to receive a share of $1 million to buy food for the hungry.
Alan Shawn Feinstein, of Cranston, R.I., gives away $1 million each year to anti-hunger agencies throughout the country. The more the food pantry can raise by April 30, the larger the share of the $1 million it will receive. The donation is not matching funds.
Donations can include cash, checks and food items or pledges to the pantry to be paid at a later date. The pantry has participated in the Feinstein Foundation program for several years and has usually received between $200 and $500 to buy food.
