Drug sting throughout Lawrence Co. nets 25 suspected dealers

NEW CASTLE, Pa. — Twenty-five people have been arrested so far in a drug sting throughout Lawrence County, said District Attorney John Bongivengo.

Bongivengo said the raid began at 5 a.m. today and included police departments in just about every municipality in the county. Most arrests were in New Castle and Ellwood City, he said.

Also assisting in the sting, which netted suspected mid-level drug dealers, were the Pennsylvania State Police, the Pennsylvania Drug Enforcement Agency, and four canine units, he said.

Along with drugs that included crack cocaine and the prescription pain killer OxyContin, police confiscated $7,000 in cash and five guns, he said.
