YOUNGSTOWN — Ivan Maldonado, president of the Association of Classified Employees union at Youngstown State University, pleaded not guilty to one misdemeanor charge of menacing this morning.

Judge Elizabeth A. Kobly of municipal court heard the plea and allowed Maldonado to be released on his own recognizance with a clause stating he cannot contact the accuser, a fellow YSU employee. Kobly informed Maldonado the release on own recognizance condition would be revoked if he made contact with the accuser in any way.

Maldonado is accused of harassing a 42-year-old female employed by the university. In a complaint, the woman told university police that Maldonado raised his voice to her and made a comment about her health. Maldonado turned himself in to the Mahoning County Jail at 5 a.m. today.
