Beatitude House receives $41,200 grant
STAFF REPORT
YOUNGSTOWN — Beatitude House has received a grant of $41,200 from the William Swanston Charitable Fund to support its child-advocacy program, which is designed to respond to the special needs of the children of the women in the program.
Through this grant, Beatitude House will provide the children with enrichment activities, including participation in the children’s choir and piano lessons. The grant also will pay for school clothing.
The child advocate meets with the women on a regular basis to provide any needed services regarding their children. The advocate works to make sure the children are assessed to determine services needed, such as counseling, tutoring and school intervention.
The advocate serves as a link to connect the family with other legal issues regarding children. The advocate also provides a parenting program that the women are required to attend.
Beatitude House serves disadvantaged women and children in the Mahoning Valley. By creating a home, providing education opportunities and fostering healthy families, the organization provides women with the opportunity to transform their lives.
