Boardman doubles team seeded third in sectional


CANTON — Boardman High School’s Carolyn and Ann Jesko have been seeded No. 3 for the Division I sectional tournament doubles competition Wednesday at Weis Park and Stadium Park courts, while Canfield’s Christina Brant and Gabriella Brant are seeded No. 4.

The top four singles and doubles team will advance to the district tournament at Oberlin College Oct. 8 and 11.

Schools entered are Alliance, Barberton, Boardman, Canfield, Canton McKinley, Copley, Fitch, GlenOak, Green, Hoover, Jackson, Lake, Louisville, Massillon, Perry, Revere and Wooster.

Top seeds for singles are Kelsey Yoder, Perry; Natalie Robson, Revere; Jessica Wharton, Copley, and Tricia Conlan, Jackson. The top two seeds for doubles are Ashley Thomas and Stephanie Conlan, Jackson, and Kayla Carpenter and Lindsay Fisher, Hoover.

The Div. II sectional girls tournament is scheduled Wednesday with singles competition at Boardman High School courts and doubles at Volney Rogers courts. Play at both places starts at 8:15 a.m. Finals are Saturday.

Marian Mostardi of Ravenna is the top seed for singles, while Meg Maroscher of Salem is No. 2, Gabrielle Brocker of Poland No. 3 and Megan Cauchra of Crestwood No. 4.

Mooney’s Allison St. George and Jaclyn DiDomenico are the top seeded doubles team, while Poland’s Colleen Duncan and Danielle Mullis and No. 2, Warren JFK’s Chelsea Ross and Marissa Nocera are No. 3 and Poland’s Allison and Julie Rice are No. 4.

Schools entered are Ashtabula Edgewood, Brookfield, Cardinal Mooney, Crestwood, East Palestine, Jefferson Area, Lakeview, Liberty, Lordstown, McDonald, Ravenna, Salem, Struthers, United, Ursuline, Warren JFK and West Branch.
