Gee’s cabinet

Ohio State University President Gordon Gee has assembled a pricey group of senior administrators that is larger and costlier than his predecessor’s cabinet, among them:

Joyce Beatty, the Democratic majority leader of the Ohio House, who will earn a base salary of $320,000 as senior vice president for outreach and engagement when she leaves the Statehouse in January. Her Ohio State salary is almost four times her legislative salary.

Steven Gabbe, chief executive of the medical center and senior vice president of health sciences, earns a base salary of $750,000 a year. With possible bonuses and deferred compensation if he stays at Ohio State for five years, he could get $1.1 million this year.

Joseph Alutto, executive vice president and provost, earned $500,000 as the school’s top academic official. His entire benefits package could earn him as much as $775,000 this year.
