SENIOR SIDELIGHTS


Senior Independence Senior Center of Mahoning County, 1110 Fifth Ave., Youngstown, has planned the following activities: Monday, Men’s and Women’s Needlecraft Club at 10 a.m., and bridge at 1 p.m.; Tuesday, oil painting, computer class at 10 and noon, cornhole practice at 1:15, and digital club at 2 p.m; Wednesday, watercolor class at 10, computer at 10 and noon, Tai Chi at noon, and 500 cards at 1 p.m.; and Thursday, woodcarvers and Watch Our Weight Club at 9 a.m.; exercise at noon, and line dancing at 1 p.m.; and Friday, Texas Hold’em at 1 p.m. Special events include: Wednesday, trip to Grove City from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Tuesday, Boardman Fun Day cancelled; and Saturday, pickup at senior center for Titusville Railroad Trip at 7:15 a.m. Flu shots available at all Fun Days. Home Energy Assistance Program applications are available at the center. The center has applications for the SBC telephone discount program of $12.38 per month for eligible applicants. The Fellowship Hall at Western Reserve Baptist Church, 8590 Hitchcock Road, Boardman, will be the site of Midday Connection, an event specially designed for seniors. The gathering will take place at 11 a.m. the first Friday of every month, beginning Oct. 3. Participants will enjoy fellowship, games, activities and lunch, which will be served at noon. Reservations are appreciated. There is no charge, but donations are gratefully accepted.
