Costly disasters

Some other costly storms in Ohio based on insurance claims and losses:

Hailstorm: June 8, 2007, greater Akron area: 29,219 claims totaling over $105 million in insured losses.

Hail and windstorm: Oct. 4, 2006, central Ohio: more than 45,444 claims totaling $239.6 million.

Snowstorm: Christmas 2004, statewide: 27,119 claims totaling $85 million.

Hailstorm: April 9, 2001, Dayton area: about 27,575 claims totaling $70 million.

Tornado: April 9, 1999, Cincinnati area: 4,815 claims totaling at least $66 million.

Winter storms of snow, ice, freezing rain and high winds, January 1999, statewide: at least 26,000 claims totaling $41 million.

Blizzard and snow, ice and strong winds: second and third weeks of January 1996, statewide: 28,500 claims totaling $46.2 million.
