Guild to host afterglow Oct. 18 at DeYor center
YOUNGSTOWN — A champagne and chocolates afterglow will be hosted by the Youngstown Symphony Guild on Oct. 18 at the Eleanor Beecher Flad Pavilion at the DeYor Performing Arts Center following the gala opening of the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra Masterworks Concert in the Edward W. Powers Auditorium.
Among the guests at the afterglow will be Youngstown Symphony Orchestra Music Director Randall Craig Fleischer, and guest artist Nicholas Kendall, whose newly commissioned work for solo violin and orchestra, “Spontaneous Combustion,” will be premiered during the 8 p.m. concert. Among the other numbers to be performed at the concert will be Holst’s “The Planets.”
In addition to meeting the special guests, concertgoers attending the afterglow will be treated to a dessert buffet, where one of the attractions will be a flaming coffee bar. Proceeds from the event will benefit the symphony orchestra.
Mercy Komar and Jeanne Simeone are serving as co-chairwomen for the afterglow.
To make reservations for the afterglow or to purchase tickets for the concert, call the DeYor Performing Arts Center box office at (330) 744-0264.
