Union Twp. to get Microtel by next summer

STAFF REPORT

NEW CASTLE, Pa. — An 80-room Microtel with an adjoining 300-person conference center and a Pappy T’s Pub and Lounge are slated to open next summer in Union Township.

Developer Edward Trainer Jr., president of New Castle Lodging II, said the complex will be built on property he owns at the corner of West State Street and South Scotland Lane.

It is expected to add 50 jobs to the New Castle area, Trainer said.

Trainer said Friday that development plans will be submitted to the Union Township Planning Commission at its Oct. 20 meeting.

Trainer will own the franchise for the development.

“We look forward to serving New Castle’s growing business community,” he said.

Microtel Inn & Suites Franchising is a member of the Wyndham Hotel Group’s lodging brands.

Microtels are economy hotels. Most properties offer meeting rooms, fitness centers, swimming pools and guest laundry rooms.

Pappy T’s offers pub-style food in a casual atmosphere.
