Teamster sues Local 377, two of its officers

YOUNGSTOWN — A Teamsters member filed a lawsuit against Local 377 and two of its suspended union officers.

Randal Anzevino of Youngstown last year was caught up in political infighting that led to the Youngstown-based local’s being taken over by a trustee who was appointed by Teamsters headquarters.

Last year’s election results were thrown out when Ray DePasquale and Chris Colello were suspended from the union. A Teamsters board found they had engaged in improper activities. DePasquale had been elected secretary-treasurer and Colello was elected president.

The lawsuit, filed in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court, said Anzevino was fired by Roth Bros. after DePasquale and Colello copied contents of his personnel file and mailed them to the employer. The suit said the file contained unfounded allegations against him.

Two weeks earlier, Anzevino had filed union charges against DePasquale and Colello involving the distribution of phony training certification cards, the suit said.

DePasquale and Colello could not be reached for comment.

The suit seeks damages of more than $25,000 on each of the allegations, including interference with a business relationship, defamation and negligent supervision.
