“Chris Rock: Kill the Messenger” (9 p.m., HBO): “Chris Rock: Kill the Messenger” is a stand-up special that culls highlights from three of the comedian’s performances in South Africa, London and New York City. With this being an election year, expect lots of spicy political humor.

“48 Hours Mystery” (10 p.m., CBS): In October 2002, at age 11, Shawn Hornbeck was kidnapped in his Missouri community. For the next four-plus years, he was subjected to terrible abuse at the hands of his abductor. Then FBI agents, in search of another missing child, rescued that child and Shawn in January 2007. In what “48 Hours Mystery” bills as his first interview, Shawn describes to correspondent Troy Roberts the chilling events: getting knocked off his bike and then bound and thrown into the truck; the torture and terror he endured; the new identity he was forced to accept; his rescue and its aftermath.
