Boardman 2, Poland 1

POLAND — Devrim Olgun scored the game-winning goal on a penalty kick with less than 15 minutes remaining to break a 1-1 tie. Matt Horvatich had the game’s other goal on an assist by B.J. Comstock, while Garrett Pancake added seven goals for Boardman (5-5-1). Ryan Rovnak scored on an assist from Matt Mrozek for Poland, while Cooper Kostelic had seven saves. JVs: Boardman 2-0.

West Branch 5, Hubbard 0

HUBBARD — Brian Snoddy, Josh Latham and Aaron Lamancusa had a goal apiece for West Branch, which benefited from two other goals that Hubbard players accidentally ricocheted into their own goal. Hubbard goalie Steve Roose, a sophomore, had 11 saves, while Chance Young had six stops for West Branch. The Warriors held a 16-6 edge in shots over the Eagles (1-10-1). JVs: West Branch 3-1.

Portersville 4, Heartland Christian 2

C0LUMBIANA — Kyle Knepper and Justin each scored a goal for Heartland. Goalkeepers Tyler Burgess and Owen Stryffler had 13 and five saves respectively. Tyler Harbison, Jacob Zeigler, Keenan Bazzoli and Justin Santoro scored a goal apiece for Portersville. Jeremiah McCaslin had 12 saves.

GIRLS

Poland 6, Niles 0

NILES — Freshman Kelsey Malenik had two goals, while junior Jordan Palumbo, senior Becky Hanna, sophomore Tatum Marucci and junior Rachel Ames had single goals for Poland (6-5, 2-2 AAC). Palumbo had two assists, while Marucci, Samantha Robertson and Abby Brenoel had one assist apiece. Niles goalie Sara Scarnecchia had eight saves, while Stephanie Ciccone had four stops for Poland, which out-shot the Red Dragons, 13-4. Niles is 6-4-1. JVs: Poland, 8-0.
