Fugitive captured in Columbiana County

SALINEVILLE — Columbiana County Sheriff Ray Stone said this morning that a local man wanted by federal agents was arrested about 2 p.m. Thursday while walking along a road near here.

Authorities on Tuesday tried to arrest Brian Wood, 29, of East Main Street, at his home on charges of violating his federal probation, transporting stolen goods and possessing a firearm. Wood removed an air conditioner from a window and escaped through the window.

Members of the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force got a tip he was walking along a road near Salineville and arrested him.

It was not clear where Woods was being held.
