CLIPPER INVITE


A field of 21 high school teams featuring some of the area’s top runners will compete in the 10th Clipper Invitational Saturday at the Columbiana Ward Athletic Complex. Boys and girls middle school runs are scheduled for 11 a.m. and 11:30 respectively. The girls varsity race is set for noon and the boys at 12:35. Cuyahoga Falls and Salem are the defending boys and champs. Lauren Shivers (19 minutes, 25 seconds) and Lexi Shivers (20:45) of Salem, Chris Oles (21:11) of Mooney, Samantha Hamilton (19:56) of Jackson-Milton, Lauren Agnew (20:59) and Katie Heney (20:15) of Boardman, Anna Popeo (20:50) and Alexis Begezda (21:47) of Poland, Stephanie Case (20:23) of Columbiana, Leighann Kelvington (21:19) of East Palestine and Lisa Zimmerman (21:54) of East Liverpool are some of the athletes entered in the girls 5000-meter run. Some of the athletes for the strong boys field are Sam Deskin (16:21), Ryan Westfall (17:18) and Joe Stazak (17:25) of Boardman, Aaron Sutton (16:45) of Howland, Ted Yuhaniak (17:17) a of Salem, David Chick (17:18) of East Palestine and Brandon Lucas (17:23) of East Liverpool. Schools competing will be Columbiana, Boardman, Cardinal Mooney, Poland, Jefferson Area, Cuyahoga Falls, Girard, Howland, Jackson-Milton, East Liverpool, Salem, Southeast, Southern, South Range, St. Johns and Paul, East Palestine, Lisbon, Berkshire, Edison, Western Reserve and Highlands of Natrona Heights, Pa.
