Manhunt targets Salineville area

COLUMBIANA — The U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force has launched a manhunt for a Columbiana County man with an extensive arrest history in three states.
On Tuesday, a probation officer visited the home of Brian Lee Wood, 29, of East Main Street, Salineville, where an assault rifle was discovered.
When confronted by his probation officer of the violation, Wood barricaded himself in his home and fled out of a window, according to a press release from the task force.
Wood, who has lengthy arrest records in Ohio, Pennsylvania and Missouri, is on probation for a 2004 conviction for the interstate transportation of stolen goods.
Officers are conducting an extensive manhunt in and around Salineville for the man, who is described as a white male, 6 feet 1 inch tall, 212 pounds, with blue eyes and brown hair. Wood also has several tattoos.
The task force is urging anyone with information of Wood’s whereabouts to call 1 (866) 4-WANTED.
