• DENVER — Kate Anne Slivka and Joseph W. Baker, both of 7015 E. Louisiana Ave., exchanged nuptial vows during a 5 p.m. ceremony on June 20 in the Denver Botanical Gardens.

The Rev. Kyle Wagner presided, and the couple received congratulations afterward during a reception in the Mercantile Room at the Wynkoop Brewing Co.

After a wedding trip to Costa Rica, the couple live at the Louisiana Avenue address.

The bride, a daughter of Steve and Marsha Slivka, 4185 Claridge Drive, Youngstown, graduated from Ohio State University and from the University of Colorado with an education specialist degree. She is a school psychologist for Adams County School District in Westminster, Colo.

The groom, a son of Allan and Anne Baker, 714 S. Main St., Urbana, and the late Sharon Baker, is also a graduate of OSU. He earned a master’s degree in political science at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colo., and is employed as operations manager for the Humane Society of Denver.

The bride’s cathedral-length gown of ivory lace featured a bateau neckline.

Wearing a lime green knee-length dress, Shelly Brzozowski of Denver served as the maid of honor.

Nick Selak of Denver performed the duties of best man.
