No ruling in tot’s death
BRISTOLVILLE — The Trumbull County coroner has not ruled on the cause of death of a 21-month-old boy, who collapsed at home at about 1:30 a.m. Monday.
The boy, Tyler Bachhofer, of 1063 Housel Craft Road, was pronounced dead at St. Joseph Hospital, where he was taken after his parents found him, unresponsive, on the floor of the home.
The Trumbull County Sheriff’s Department is investigating.
Dr. Humphrey Germaniuk, the county’s forensic pathologist, said he will await the results of toxicology tests before making a ruling on the death.
The body showed no signs of trauma, Dr. Germaniuk said.
Web site promotes levy
BOARDMAN — A Web site has been developed promoting passage of a township police and fire levy.
The site was conceived by the Friends of Boardman Township Levy Committee, and design and development of the site was donated by Farris Marketing of Boardman. The site, www.BoardmanPoliceandFire.com, contains information concerning the status of both departments.
It notes cutbacks to staff in both departments and that the 2.2-mill, five-year operating levy on the Nov. 4 ballot is needed to ensure no further erosion of services.
The Web site also provides information on how township residents who support the levy can volunteer to help by requesting yard signs, passing out literature or making a donation.
Road closing extended
WARREN — The closing of Nelson Moser Road in Warren and Braceville townships between Park Road and Allen Smith Road previously announced will be extended to 3 p.m. Oct. 3.
The closing will be extended so that more extensive work can be done, the Trumbull County Engineer’s Office said. The closing was originally supposed to end Friday.
Siblings robbed at bar
YOUNGSTOWN — A brother and sister from Struthers told police they were robbed after leaving a South Avenue bar around 2:40 a.m. Tuesday.
The victims said they were approached in the parking lot by a man wearing a black head scarf who first tried to sell them marijuana and then offered to sell them computers.
They said he followed them to their van, jumped in the back and ordered them to go to an ATM, but they refused. He then used their cell phone and told the person who answered to meet him at “the pay phone.”
Fearing the man was armed, they turned over $50 and loose change and drove him to Market Street near Myrtle Avenue. The robber was picked up by a white car with black pinstriping, reports show.
