Wednesday's Best Bets on TV
“Knight Rider” (8 p.m., NBC): Remake fever continues. Now we’ve got a souped-up, high-octane update of “Knight Rider” — that goofy 1980s show with a talking car. The new KITT has all kinds of high-tech accessories, including transformational powers. But what we want is a really good cup-holder.
“Gary Unmarried” (8:30 p.m., NBC): “Gary Unmarried” is a new sitcom about a dad (Jay Mohr) trying to adjust to life after leaving his wife (Paula Marshall). Sounds as lot like a male version of the show that precedes it — “The New Adventures of Old Christine.”
“David Blaine: Dive of Death” (9 p.m., ABC): Magician-daredevil David Blaine has a new stunt coming up. Or rather, hanging down. As “The Upside-Down Man,” he will attempt to hang from a thin wire five stories in the air, with no safety net or airbag to break his fall, above Central Park’s Wollman Rink for three days and nights. This endurance challenge will take place in public view beginning Monday morning. Then he’s scheduled to exit from his perch (just how is a closely guarded secret) at the climax of a live, two-hour ABC special, “David Blaine: Dive of Death.”
“Criminal Minds” (9 p.m., CBS): In the fourth-season opener, the team looks for terrorists after an attack on New York City.
