Zoning inspector retires after 27 years
STAFF REPORT
AUSTINTOWN — Board members said their goodbyes as Michael Kurilla attended his last township trustees meeting as zoning inspector Monday evening.
Kurilla, who spent 32 years as a township employee, 27 as zoning inspector, turned over his job on Sept. 3 to Darren Crivelli, former zoning inspector for Boardman Township.
Crivelli worked as assistant zoning inspector in Austintown before moving to assistant zoning inspector in Boardman in 1999. He was promoted to Boardman zoning inspector in 2003.
He will earn $58,119 annually in Austintown, about $2,500 more than his Boardman salary.
“It’s been a smooth transition so far,” Kurilla said. “I am confident in Darren’s abilities.”
Crivelli was supposed to attend the meeting but was absent due to illness. Kurilla said the new zoning inspector will be present at the next board meeting.
The board also discussed the gas aggregation program with Vectren Source that was approved for October 2008 to September 2009.
Filling in for Fiscal Officer Michael Kurish, administrator Michael Dockery said letters to those who wish to opt into the program should arrive to residents today or Wednesday.
Trustee Lisa Oles said she’s gotten several calls from elderly residents who have had to sit on the phone with Vectren Source for long periods of time due to a high volume of incoming calls.
To remedy this, Oles said the company has provided an alternate number, (866) 306-8136, for residents to call.
