Springfield pulls past Girard


NEW MIDDLETOWN — Ashley Davis scored 12 points, with four aces and eight kills for the Springfield High volleyball team, which defeated Girard 25-12, 25-22, 25-16 Monday.

Andria Lyons had 15 points and three aces and Rachael Kennedy had 16 kills and four blocks for the Tigers (11-1).

Olivia Bucci led the Indians (8-8) with eight points, six digs and five kills. Lyndsay Crown had six kills and four blocks and Morgan Walters had 12 assists.

Leetonia 25-25-25, Youngstown Christian 7-14-10

LEETONIA — Samantha Glasser led the Bears (6-8) with 28 assists. Staci Medved scored 14 points, while Emma Merril had 14 kills. JVs: Leetonia 25-12, 25-14.

Mineral Ridge 25-18-25-21-15, Garfield 20-25-20-25-11

MINERAL RIDGE — Jenna Spackman scored 14 points with three aces and 29 assists for the Rams (8-4) in the five-game match. Taylor Shiley had 11 points, four aces, 15 kills and 11 blocks. Katie Opfer led Garfield (3-12) with 10 points, 13 kills and seven blocks. Kelly Russomanno had 14 assists and 14 digs.

Poland 19-25-19-25-15, Jackson-Milton 25-17-25-23-12

POLAND — Katie Pompeii had 12 kills, 12 points, four aces and 18 digs to lead Poland (7-6).

Kristi Valentini had 10 kills, 17 points, two aces and 16 digs and Amanda Molaskey 42 assists, 10 points, three aces and seven digs for the Bulldogs.

For J-M (9-2), Alyssa Chine had 15 kills, 19 points and three aces, Kaitlin Keck 12 kills, 20 points and four aces and Maddie Griffiths 16 points, eight aces and 12 assists.

Lakeview 25-25-25, Brookfield 17-10-23

CORTLAND — Chelsea Kelligher scored 19 points, with five aces and 10 digs for the Bulldogs (12-3). Abbey Bensing had 15 kills and 15 digs. Alexis Sidley had 10 digs, eight points and two aces. Brittany Hiner led the Warriors with eight points, nine kills and 28 assists. JVs: Lakeview 25-14, 25-7.

Warren Harding 25-25-25, Campbell 20-13-16

WARREN — Creelyn Provitt scored 20 points with three aces and 20 assists for the Raiders. Ronisha Howard had 10 points, 10 assists, two kills and two blocks.

Mathews 25-26-25, Maplewood 11-24-10

MECCA — Seniors Emily Pitzer led the Mustangs (9-3, 8-1 NEC) with 15 assists, while Audrey Dodgson had four aces and Brittanee Moyer had four digs. Junior Sara Hewitt had five kills. Ashley Rondini led the Rockets (3-10, 2-8) with nine points. Karey Denman had six blocks.

NORTH BLOOMFIELD — Karly Gibbs had 11 points, five aces and 20 assists, Kaylie Luzzadder had 10 points, six aces, on dig, seven kills and one block and Brianna Blodgett had nine points, one ace, three digs, seven kills and five blocks. JVs: Lordstown 26-24, 25-11.
