Perisa, Abdul-Aal lead JFK boys over Ursuline


Howland’s girls stayed unbeaten with a 4-0 win over Lakeview.

YOUNGSTOWN — Mike Perisa and Karim Abdul-Aal each scored two goals for Warren JFK, which defeated Ursuline 4-1 in a boys high school soccer game Monday.

Eric Ambrosy had an assist. Mike Vanes scored the goal for the Irish (5-3-4) on an assist by John Buckley. The Eagles (8-3-1) had seven shots on goal the Irish had five.

Goalkeeper Andrew Rich had three saves for Ursuline, while Mike Fredericka had four for JFK.

South Range 1, Columbiana 1

COLUMBIANA — Andrew Edwards scored a second-half goal to secure the tie for South Range (9-1-1). Alex Baker had the assist. Luke Yeagley had 17 saves.

Girls

Poland 5, Beaver Local 1

EAST LIVERPOOL — Becky Hanna, Kelsey Malenik and Tatum Marucci each had a goal and an assist to lead Poland.

Jordan Palumbo and Alicia Taylor also had goals for the Bulldogs (5-5), while Vivian Clayton added an assist.

Alexis Thrasher had the lone goal for Beaver Local.

Howland 4, Lakeview 0

CORTLAND — Gina Albani and Lauren Hawes each had a goal and an assist to lead Howland (9-0-1).

Jessica Prokup and Megan Long each added a goal while Abby Nicholas, Jessica Wilson and Amy Seagraves contributed one assist apiece.

Howland goalie Casey Haering had three saves while Lakeview goalie Jen Ulam had nine saves,

Niles 9, Struthers 0

STRUTHERS — Raffaela Infante scored three goals, Megan McDermott had two goals and four assists and Carly Cicero had a goal and two assists for Niles. Courtney Christie added two goals, Jordan Smith had one and Sarah Perry had one assist.

Kayla Kusky had 11 saves for Struthers (0-9).

Salem 2, Canfield 1

SALEM — Abi Pasco and Suzanne Waterbeck each scored a goal for the Quakers. Goalkeeper Allison Thompson had 14 saves.

Audrey Smith scored the goal for the Cardinals on an assist by Jenne Battaglia. Anokha Padubidri had two saves.

Canfield had 22 shots on goal and Salem had nine.

LaBrae 1, Girard 0

LEAVITTSBURG — Junior Ally Rininger scored the game’s only goal on an assist by sophomore Julie Gibson in an All-American Conference Blue Tier game.

Kelsie Daniel had six saves for the Vikings (7-3-1, 4-1) and Melissa Weitzman had nine saves for Girard.

Springfield 7, South Range 3

NEW MIDDLETOWN — Alexis Zubick scored three goals and had two assists for the Tigers (9-2, ITCL Tier 1 5-0). Breanne Mincher had two goals. Hannah Chapella and Kayla Ohlin each had one. Allyson Berry, Kelli Fitzpatrick and Amber Uscianowski had an assist apiece. Abbey Ausnehmer scored two goals and Mackenzie Pfeifer had one for the Raiders.

Springfield had 31 shots on goal and South Range had 12. Heather Cozak had five saves and Laura Krcelic had four for the Tigers. The Raiders’ Kristen Robinson had 13 saves.

Warren JFK 7, Bristol 0

WARREN — Sophomore Erin McBride scored four goals, three in the first half to lead JFK (5-5). Jerrica Cooper and Kelli Guarnieri had two apiece. Guarnieri also had two assists, while Cooper and McBride each had one. Heidi Ulrich had one save.

Late Saturday Coventry 5, LaBrae 1

Kriscinda Frazier scored on a penalty kick for LaBrae and Kelsie Daniel had 10 saves.
