Mahoning SWCD elects board member

CANFIELD — Chad Less has been elected to a three-year term on the Mahoning Soil and Water Conservation District’s board of supervisors.
Less, of Green Township, is the owner of Less Contracting, which installs retention ponds, grass waterways and artificial wetlands.
He is one of five voting members of the board, which also has two nonvoting associate members.
Less was elected at Friday’s annual district meeting at the Mill Creek MetroParks Farm.
The district presented awards to the following:
UMarianne, Daniel and Cathy Mastropietro of the Mastropietro Winery in Berlin Center, cooperator of the year.
ULarry Davis, Canfield High School science teacher, educator of the year.
UJ.T. Whitehouse, Town Crier reporter, friend to the district.
UDeb Gordon of Boardman, volunteer of the year.
UVince Trinckes, SWCD technician, special recognition award for his work on the Mahoning Valley Agriguide — a guide to local farms.
