Brother, sister robbed on Youngstown’s South Side

YOUNGSTOWN — A brother and sister from Struthers told police they were robbed after leaving a South Avenue bar around 2:40 a.m. today.

The victims said they were approached in the parking lot by a man wearing a black head scarf who first tried to sell them marijuana and then offered to sell them computers.

They said he followed them to their van, jumped in the back and ordered them to go to an ATM but they refused. He then used their cell phone and told the person who answered to meet him at “the pay phone.”

Fearing the man was armed, they turned over $50 and loose change and drove him to Market Street near Myrtle Avenue. The robber was picked up by a white car with black pinstriping, police said.
