“NCIS” (8 p.m., CBS): The producers of “NCIS” are promising “big things” in the Season 6 opener. Mainly, fans are anxious to know why Vance (Rocky Carroll) broke up Gibbs’ (Mark Harmon) team and what will become of them. 8 p.m., CBS.

“Opportunity Knocks” (8 p.m., ABC): “Opportunity Knocks” takes the TV game-show format on the road, stopping at homes and asking family members to answer questions about themselves. Just to be safe: Don’t answer the door in your underwear.

“The Mentalist” (9 p.m., CBS): In the new drama “The Mentalist,” Simon Baker plays a bogus TV psychic whose family was murdered by a serial killer. Now he uses his keen observational skills to help the cops solve homicide cases. Robin Tunney also stars.
