Man killed in crash

MECCA — The Warren Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a one-vehicle fatal crash that occurred early Sunday on state Route 46 just north of Cortland.

The patrol was dispatched at 1:29 a.m. Randy Gordon, 46, of Mineral City was southbound on Route 46 when his vehicle entered a curve and he lost control. His vehicle struck a tree and become engulfed in fire.

2 suffer minor injuries

WARREN TOWNSHIP — Trooper Joseph J. Truchan, 46, of the Warren Post of the OSHP was treated and released from Trumbull Memorial Hospital and Stephanie D. Young, 24, of North West Boulevard, Warren, was treated and released from St. Joseph’s Eastland after a traffic accident at about 5 p.m. Saturday. Both had minor injuries.

OSHP gave this account: Truchan was exiting state Route 5 westbound at Route 422 and attempting to make a stop of a vehicle that proceeded through the intersection. Truchan pulled from the exit ramp onto U.S. 422 eastbound into the path of Young’s car, which was traveling westbound. Young’s car struck the patrol car. Truchan was given a citation for failure to yield.

Trespass, drug charges

YOUNGSTOWN — Police were called to 338 Cleveland St. and found Reginald H. Taylor, 63, who had been given till Sept. 17 to vacate the house, which had been red-tagged Sept. 12.

A citizen called to report suspected drug activity and a brothel.

Police charged Taylor with criminal trespass and possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia. Taylor was taken to Mahoning County Jail then to St. Elizabeth Health Center because his blood pressure was not at an acceptable level.

Weapon, drug charges

YOUNGSTOWN — Charles M. Pullen, 26, of the 2000 block of Selma Avenue was arrested on charges of carrying a concealed weapon, having weapons disability and possession of drugs at about 11:30 p.m. Saturday at West Lake Terrace after police found him trespassing on Youngstown Municipal Housing Authority property.

Pullen was sitting outside a vacant apartment with two companions. When police approached, they observed him put something under a chair pad.

Police said they found a 9mm pistol with 13 live rounds and a bag of suspected marijuana. He was taken to Mahoning County Jail.

Resisting-arrest charge

YOUNGSTOWN — Dean L. Miller Jr., 20, of the 400 block of West Dewey Avenue was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, resisting arrest and drug abuse after police were called to the 100 block of East Auburndale Avenue about someone shooting in the air.

Police questioned people on the street and then Miller, who was sitting in the passenger side of a car parked in a driveway on Auburndale.

Police said Miller made an attempt to flee while holding a firearm in his left hand and bag in the right. Police recovered a 9mm pistol and three bags of suspected marijuana.
