Eagle award recipients

Troop 25, Boy Scouts of America chartered to Canfield United Methodist Church, will present the Eagle Scout Award to two young men at a court of honor Wednesday in the church.

The awards will be presented to Kurt J. Conricote, son of Gail and Jim Conricote, and Jeremy Kightlinger, son of John and Therese Kightlinger, all of Canfield.

Kurt was a member of Cub Scout Pack 25 for four years and attained the highest rank of Arrow of Light. He then joined Boy Scout Troop 25, where he is Order of the Arrow Troop Representative. His past troop positions have been senior patrol leader, assistant senior patrol leader for five terms, patrol leader for two terms, assistant patrol leader, quartermaster, historian for three terms and den chief.

He has earned 21 merit badges and special scouting awards: four 50-Mile Afloat awards, Fifth-Year Seven Ranges Pipestone Award, Third-Year Camp McKinley Heritage Award, and special troop awards: Martin L. Wilhelm Spirit of Scouting Award, Order of the ANTS, Bob Roberts Memorial Backpatch with seven points, and the Herman West Most Active Scout Award in 2006.

He participated in these Scout activities: Brotherhood member of Wapashuwi Lodge, Order of the Arrow, Gettysburg Historic Hike, Junior Leader Training for five years, Philmont Scout Ranch Trek in 2005 and 2007, Tinnerman Wilderness Canoe base in 2006 and Tinnerman Wilderness Canoe Base Guide in 2008.

He is a junior at Canfield High School and Mahoning County Career & Technical Center. He was a member of high school marching and concert bands for two years and lettered in band. He is a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Canfield.

For his Eagle Scout service project, he planned, designed, coordinated and supervised the construction of the display case on the third floor of the Canfield War Veterans Museum.

Jeremy was a member of Cub Scout Pack 25 for five years and also attained the rank of Arrow of Light. He is Troop 25’s assistant scoutmaster and has been senior patrol leader, assistant senior patrol leader, patrol leader, quartermaster, den chief and junior assistant scoutmaster.

Jeremy has earned 21 merit badges and special Scout awards: Fifth- Year Seven Ranges Pipestone Award, Third-Year Camp McKinley Heritage Award and 50-Mile Afloat Award. He attended Tinnerman Wilderness Canoe Base in 2006 and the Gettysburg Historic Hike.

He is a senior at Canfield High School, where he is a member of the bowling league. He also is a member of St. Michael Church.

For his Eagle Scout service project, he planned, designed, coordinated and supervised the construction of three bookcases for the high school concert and symphonic band.
