Free legal service available in Warren

staff report

WARREN — The Young Lawyers Committee of the Trumbull Bar Association and Community Legal Aid’s Volunteer Legal Services Program have teamed up to create a free legal counsel and advice clinic.

The first Trumbull County Counsel and Advice Clinic will be held Thursday and every fourth Thursday of each month thereafter.

Local attorneys, who volunteer their time and expertise, will offer free, confidential legal advice on a walk-in basis to Trumbull County residents who cannot afford a lawyer. This clinic is a response to need in the community. In 2007 alone, more than 2,400 income-eligible people requested legal assistance from Legal Aid in Trumbull County.

The clinic will be at the Community Legal Aid offices located at 160 E. Market, Suite 225. Pre-registration is not necessary, but individuals who wish to participate in the clinic should arrive between 5 and 5:30 p.m. to register. The clinic is not first-come, first served. The lawyers will meet with and advise individuals based upon the attorneys’ areas of expertise.

Potential participants seeking more information about the Trumbull County Counsel and Advice Clinic should call the Volunteer Legal Services Program at 1-(877) 401-0088.
