A vote for Sarah is a vote for John McCain

A vote for Sarah is a vote for John McCain

EDITOR:

I am writing this letter especially for the two women who told me, last week that they might vote for John McCain because he put a woman on the ticket with him. That’s almost as bad as voting for a candidate because he’s cute or voting for George W. Bush because he’d be fun to have a beer with. I hope he’s buying.

John McCain is who you’d be voting for, not Sarah Palin. Sarah is permitted to spit out Republican talking points. She is being told what to say, where to say it, and how to say it. She isn’t allowed to appear on any Sunday talk shows or be interviewed by the media. Sarah is more aligned with George W. Bush than is John McCain.

John McCain has consistently voted against women’s issues, including equal pay for equal work and health care for children. He has talked about reinstating the military draft. How does that grab you soccer moms with teenagers? Your boys and girls will be needed to fight his wars. “Bomb...Bomb...Iran”.

Most of the rights that women and workers in general have won, have come from the efforts of the Democratic Party and unions. Paid vacations, sick leave, 40 hour work week, child labor laws, paid holidays, etc.

The Republican Party wants you to believe that they are the only ones who can keep you safe. That is absurd. Through some of the most dangerous times in our nation’s history, Democratic presidents have kept us safe and prosperous.

This is the most important election in my lifetime. It is going to mean the difference between wallowing in the past and reveling in the future. A vote for John McCain and Sarah Palin will set women’s rights back a hundred years.
