Funding tips

The Raymond John Wean Foundation, founded in 1949, has some $80 million in assets and gives about $4 million a year to nonprofit organizations, most in Mahoning and Trumbull counties. Here are tips on how to apply for a Wean grant:

Contact the foundation by telephone, letter or on the Web site.

Attend orientation sessions conducted by the foundation before each of its four annual funding deadlines.

Determine if your organization’s mission overlaps or coincides with that of the foundation. If the missions have nothing in common, the application will not be approved.
