Woman beaten, robbed

SHARON, Pa. — A 50-year-old Mercer woman who was visiting a friend at the Willow Village Apartments was beaten in the parking lot as two teenage boys took her purse, police reported.

The assault happened at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, said police Chief Michael Menster. The apartments are in the 300 block of Sterling Avenue.

Police were called to Sharon Regional Health System’s hospital after the woman drove herself there, Menster said.

The woman told police the boys approached her as she was getting out of her car. One of them punched her and she fell, she said.

She was dragged by her purse when she wouldn’t let go, then the other boy started to punch her in the head, she told police.

Both boys began to kick her. They grabbed her purse and ran, Menster said.
