Wrestlers will battle for tag-team title
AUSTINTOWN — Championship Wrestling Experience will present “Decimation” at 6 p.m. Sept. 26 at The Wedge Nightclub, 1743 Raccoon Road. The main event features four teams competing to be the first CWE Tag Team Champions. Faith in Nothing, LA Gunz, Iron Justice and Straight Jacket Mafia will battle in a Tables, Ladders and Chairs match.
Also on the card is former champion Johnny Gargano, who will try to get even with the man who had a large hand in costing him his title at Culmination II. Tickets are $12 in advance at Havana House in Niles and $15 at the door.
Weather Channel picks up another Couchenour song
YOUNGSTOWN — The Weather Channel is playing another song by composer-musician Jim Couchenour. “Small Mouth Bass” is the sixth Couchenour song picked up this year by the cable channel. Couchenour is one of the core members of local jazz-fusion group SounDoctrine.
“Small Mouth Bass” features keyboardist and national recording artist Bob Baldwin, saxophonist Keith McKelley and guitarist Paul Douds. It was produced by SounDoctrine’s Jere B. The song appears on the band’s 2006 album “Endurance.”
SounDoctrine is recording its third studio release, “Inspire,” to be released in the spring. The band will open for comedian Michael Jr. at Victory Christian Center in Coitsville on Oct. 12.

Violinist, pianist launch Kent-Salem recital series
SALEM — The Salem Campus of Kent State University will present violinist Ariana Kim and pianist Ieva Jokubaviciute in a 3 p.m. recital Sunday. Musical selections will include Mozart, Schumann and Janacek.
A sought-after chamber musician, Kim is a member of the New York Times contemporary music ensemble Ne(x)tworks. She will appear as a soloist with the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra this season. Kim is not a Northeast Ohio native, but her mother, Ellen Walker, graduated from Boardman High School. Her grandfather, Mark Walker, was a composer and professor at the Dana School of Music at Youngstown State University. Her grandmother, Kathryn Walker, was a cellist with the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra.
Jokubaviciute, of Lithuania, performs regularly in the United States, Europe and South America.
This is the first concert in the university’s Symphonious Sunday series. Upcoming dates are Oct. 12, Nov. 16 and Dec. 14.
