McDonough art season opens

YOUNGSTOWN — The McDonough Museum of Art will launch its season Friday with “AGENCY: Art and Advertising,” an exhibition that will run through Nov. 8. A free opening reception will be at 6 p.m. Friday at the museum, 525 Wick Ave.

“AGENCY: Art and Advertising” explores artists’ use of advertising media for works of art. The exhibition, curated by Kevin Concannon and John Noga, will focus on works from the 1960s to the present. The McDonough Museum will publish an exhibition catalog featuring essays by both curators.

Billboards by Geoffrey Hendricks, Marilyn Minter, Yoko Ono and Felix Gonzalez-Torres will be featured throughout the Youngstown metropolitan area as part of this exhibition.

The McDonough is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
