Large company fire in New Castle causes evacuation

NEW CASTLE, Pa. — Area fire departments extinguished a large fire today at Castle Environmental near Sampson Street and Pa. Route 60, said Lawrence County’s emergency dispatch.

The county hazardous materials team was also there, and people within a half-mile of the site were evacuated. Roads were blocked off, but there were no injuries.

The company, 101 River Park Drive, provides industrial waste services, including management of hazardous liquid and solid wastes, according to its Web site.
