Car show will aid Caraballo family

staff report

AUSTINTOWN — The battle with cancer continues for a Boardman couple, and once again, the community steps up to lend a hand.

Elvis and Jill Caraballo, who have been married for 25 years, were both diagnosed with cancer within six months of one another.

Elvis was diagnosed in January with bile duct cancer, and in May, Jill was diagnosed with breast cancer.

On Saturday, Greenwood Chevrolet and the Mahoning Valley Corvette Club are having a car show and customer appreciation day to help raise money for the couple and their five children — A.J., 20; Ariana, 18; Michael, 13; Lexi, 10; and Nick, 8.

Rain or shine, the show will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Greenwood Hummer, Mahoning Avenue in Austintown.

Donations are $5 per car, and entrants will receive a T-shirt and a goodie bag.

DJ Keen Geene will be on site to play oldies music, and guests have a chance to win prizes at the door, in a 50/50 raffle or during a silent auction.

This is the latest of several fundraisers to aid the family in recent months.

Last month, Paul Rovnak, owner of Classic Bakery, organized a benefit golf outing at Pine Lakes Golf Course in Hubbard. In August, Boardman Community Baseball sponsored a home run derby fundraiser. And earlier in the year, family friends conducted a spaghetti dinner. All benefited Caraballo family.
