“I Love You Because.” Kennedy’s at Playhouse Square, accessed through State Theater, 1519 Euclid Ave., Cleveland. Auditions are from noon to 6 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday for 4 males and 4 females (ages 25-35). Be prepared to sing a short up-tempo and short ballad — contemporary music, theater or pop and songs from the show may be used. An accompanist will be provided. Callbacks 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. Sept. 22. Youngstown Superstar Vocal Contest. Kontinuous Jams Music, 6911 Market St., Boardman. MUSICIANS

Cleveland Philharmonic Orchestra. Auditions are ongoing for section strings (violin, viola, cello), substitute brass and percussion for the 2008-09 season. Rehearsals are 7:30-10 Thursdays at the Tri-C’s Metropolitan Campus Auditorium in downtown Cleveland. Audition requirements are one solo piece and one orchestral excerpt of your choice.
