YSU runners earn Horizon League honors

INDIANAPOLIS — Youngstown State runners Justin Dickman and Kayla Witmer were named cross country athletes of the week by the Horizon League Tuesday.

Dickman, a junior from Van Wet, finished 28th in a time of 27 minutes, 40 seconds in the 5.2-mile race at the Spiked Shoe Invitational at Penn State. His pace was the fastest of any league runner over the weekend.

Witmer, a sophomore from Columbiana, led the women’s team, placing 30th with a 6K time of 23:28. She also had the fastest pace of any female runner last weekend.

The Penguins run next Oct. 3 at the Asics Invitational, hosted by Notre Dame.
