Women’s clubs federation plans memorial ceremony

ASHLAND COUNTY — The GFWC/Ohio Federation of Women’s Club members and Gold Star Mothers will honor the Ohio men and women who have lost their lives in service to their country.

The ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. Sept. 28 at the Memorial Forest Shrine in Mohican Memorial State Forest, near Loudonville.

This commemoration is open to the public, and refreshments will be served.

The last Sunday in September is Gold Star Mother’s Day. Each year, members of the Gold Star Mothers gather at the shrine, the official memorial to Ohio war casualties, to conduct a ceremony and lay a wreath at the entrance of the shrine.
