Two fundraisers planned for cancer sufferer

Two area fundraisers, a golf outing and a concert, are being sponsored by the family of Andrzej Witkowski, 45, who has myxoid liposarcoma, a relatively rare cancer.

A benefit concert will take place at 8 p.m. Saturday at Barley’s in downtown Youngstown with performances by Rajma, Jordan DePaul, Away From Eden, APG and 5 Elements. There will be drawings and giveaways, and patrons who arrive by 9 p.m. will be entered in a drawing for $100. Tickets cost $5.

A benefit golf tournament will take place at 2:30 p.m. Sept. 28 at Bedford Trails Golf Course. The donation is $55 per golfer and includes 18 holes with cart, food and drinks. There will be a $5,000 hole-in-one contest and other chances to win prizes, including a 50-50 raffle.

Proceeds will be used for Witkowski’s medical bills, gas money for travel to the Cleveland Clinic and for everyday needs as he struggles to support his family.
