Start! Heart Walk will begin at YSU track
YOUNGSTOWN — More than 2,000 residents from Mahoning, Columbiana and Trumbull counties will join together for the American Heart Association’s 2008 Start! Heart Walk on Saturday.
They will be walking to fight cardiovascular disease, which kills more people each year than the next five leading causes of death combined.
Starting at the Youngstown State University track, participants will walk a 2-mile course around campus. Survivors of heart disease will wear red caps.
The event features health screenings from local agencies and businesses, and other exhibits will be part of a health fair at the track.
Walkers are to arrive at 9 a.m., and the walk begins at 10. Funds raised will go toward research and educational programs in the Mahoning Valley and throughout Ohio.
